Knee, Leg & Foot Injury
Workers' Compensation Attorney
The most common types of knee, leg and foot injuries include strains, sprains and broken bones. More serious injuries can affect the ligaments and tendons.
Disabling injuries can be the result of repetitive movements. Tears of the ligaments of the knee, leg, or ankle can be particularly painful, and cause immediate pain and swelling. Tendon injuries, or tendonitis, often result from irritation or inflammation, and may cause pain and swelling.
For example, if a tendon rips or ruptures in the knee, a person will have great difficulty extending or straightening it.
Knee Injury
Other types of knee injuries that are caused by accidents or injury can occur when a worker either bangs the knee, twists, slips or falls. Meniscus injuries of the knee often involve torn cartilage. Fluid that cushions the outside of the knee joint may become inflamed. In many cases, the knee may be bruised, but gets gradually worse over time until a worker can no longer cope with the pain and discomfort. There are many ways to treat knee injuries, including arthroscopic surgery, physical therapy, cortisone shots and, in very serious cases, knee replacements.
Even if you helped to cause the accident, workers with knee, ankle and leg injuries are entitled to workers' compensation benefits, even if the injuries are the result of long-term
work-related wear and tear, or continuously working on
your knees and legs.
